A Word of Thanks, Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
Do you know people who are hard to please? Are you one of them? As leaders, we should have high standards. The Kingdom is worthy of our very best. But take this principle out of balance, and we could get to the place where nothing is good enough and we are never satisfied. When we’re not satisfied we are not content and therefore, we are never truly happy.
Philippians 3:14 (AMP)
14 I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.
Philippians 4:11 (AMP)
11 Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.
The life of the Apostle Paul was not always easy. Just read 2Cor 11. But he is my personal hero when it comes to balancing contentment with purposeful growth. In Phil 3 He says “I press toward the goal.” In Phil 4 He says “I have learned to be content.” How did he do that?
He did it by remaining thankful. Throughout the Word of God we are instructed to give thanks at ALL times and in ALL things. Do you want to be lifted, focused and content? This week, let’s practice being thankful.
Success and Progress! … and thanks!
