Are We There Yet? Mentoring Moments, the 1min blog
What’s worse than not scoring any points? Scoring points in the wrong direction! You may think it would never happen to you, but without clear goals and objectives you’re at risk of being “that guy.”
A common objective is the one element that makes a team a team. It’s vital that every team member can answer the “where are we going?” question. Once you answer that, every other question is a lot easier. Who needs to come with us? What should we bring? When should we go? And my favorite is, “Are we there yet?”
With measurable goals come trust and accountability. Discipline, course-correcting and growth are all a result of knowing where you’re going.
More important than the uniform or the number on your back is which goal are you shooting for. If your team feels scattered it probably is. Call a time out, huddle up and remind those amazing people, this is where we’re going and we are not there yet.
Success and Progress!
