Can You Keep A Secret? Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
Jesus, the ultimate heart reader, was in a debate with the Pharisees and said this in response to their accusations against him:
“I have a lot I could say about you and a lot I could condemn you for. But the one who sent me is true. So I tell the world exactly what he has told me.” John 8:26 GWT
Though he knew the thoughts of their heart and could read their life-like a book, Jesus chose to keep his focus on what the Father sent him to do and say rather than lay their secrets out before the crowd.
In our overly opinionated and highly communicative society, it’s easy to spread gossip and secrets. But if we, as leaders want our words to carry weight, then we’d better choose them wisely. We are called to build people. Let’s remember to keep our focus on the purpose that God has for us. Even if that means keeping a secret.
