The Four “R’s” of Achieving Real Change
The Four R’s or REAL CHANGE!
Bishop I.V. Hilliard of Houston, Texas, teaches that real change requires four things. They all start with R to make it easy to remember. I use this method to design most of my trainings. I hope they help you to make real and lasting change in your life.
- REVELATION in the word of God. The word of God reveals Jesus! Ask Jesus to reveal Himself in the area you are looking to change.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1
- ROLE MODEL. Look for people in the Bible who walked out this truth. A role model will help you navigate the emotions and pressure of the desired change.
That you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hebrews 6:12
- REGIMEN. Change isn’t change until YOU change. Find a way you can begin to immediately put into action the change you want.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.2 Cor 5:18
Brace yourself, because this final part can only come from you.
- RIGHTEOUS RESOLVE. You must decide to live a life that reflects the change you want even if it requires your mind, words or habits to change. Remember, God is with you and will give you great grace along the way.
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
