Don’t Skip Your Homework Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
Completing a marathon may seem impossible. Just thinking of running that far and long can be daunting. Our journey with the Lord is a lot like running a marathon. Sometimes the wind is at our back complementing our stride and working in our favor. And sometime it’s our greatest resistance. It is at this time we learn the importance of homework. Marathoners have a set schedule to train. Our bodies are not built to handle a load that large without training first.
Each scheduled run helps to build endurance, skill, and form. It improves the runner’s cardiovascular fitness and musculoskeletal resilience. Can you imagine trying to run a marathon without doing the homework? Injury is inevitable.
Anyone who meets a testing challenge head-on and manages to stick it out is mighty fortunate. For such persons loyally in love with God, the reward is life and more life. James 1:12
The Lord often asks us to hold our tongues, give when we don’t feel like it or forgive. These are small assignments to help you pass the bigger test. It’s an opportunity to strengthen your spiritual endurance in the Lord. Don’t skip the homework, it’s time to pass the course.
