Focus on the Focus Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
And Jesus entered the temple [grounds] and drove out [with force] all who were buying and selling [birds and animals for sacrifice] in the temple area, and He turned over the tables of the money changers [who made a profit exchanging foreign money for temple coinage] and the chairs of those who were selling doves [for sacrifice]. Matthew 21:12
The focus of this weeks post is centered around Jesus cleaning the temple. He didn’t show up with a mop and broom but a whip and zeal for His father’s house. It was here that Jesus made that iconic statement.
“… My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:13
One of the purposes of the temple was to be a house of prayer, see Isaiah 56:7. God’s people of that day had lost focus. They were at best going through the motions and at worst robbing those coming to present the Passover sacrifice.
As builders and developers, it’s exciting to see our dreams come to life and expand. However, as time goes by it’s easy to lose focus and deviate from the original intent of our God-given vision, especially when what we are doing is pleasing to people and benefiting us. It’s hard to hear the rebuke of God over the applause of people.
Leaders, let’s make sure that what we are doing is in alignment with what God has said. That’s what we call focusing on the focus.
Success and progress!
