Freedom is Forward
Philippians 3:13 (AMP)
…but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead
Harriet Tubman is one of my heroes. Once, I was asked, “If you could interview anyone from American History, who would you choose?” Harriet was my answer.
Harriet was a principle player in the Underground Railroad, a system used to guide former U.D. slaves to freedom. Harriet is known for having carried a loaded pistol. If anyone along the way decided that the journey for freedom was just too hard, Harriet would let them know the price of returning to slavery was death at her own hands.
“You can go the north and be free, or you can go to home to Jesus, but you can NEVER go back to being a slave.”
Harriet’s life prompts the realization that salvation freed us from being slaves to sin (Rom 6:6) and subject to fear and death (Rom 3:9; Rom 6:12). Like Harriet, I must warn you that although the journey may be hard at times and the price may be more than you thought you could afford, turning back would mean nothing short of death, both spiritually and naturally.
And so like the Apostle Paul, I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward. I encourage you to do the same. Forgo the wages of sin, receive the prize of righteousness, and live forever FREE. GEt up. Move on, because Freedom is Forward.
