Get the Rocks Out Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
Matthew 13:20 The one on whom seed was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and at once welcomes it with joy; 21 yet he has no [substantial] root in himself, but is only temporary, and when pressure or persecution comes because of the word, immediately he stumbles and falls away [abandoning the One who is the source of salvation].
So I’ve decided to take up two hobbies. One of them is gardening. But before I plant a single thing, I’ve been prepping the soil. I’ve turned the soil over, fertilized the soil and most importantly removed the stones. Rocks in the soil could choke out the progress of my seeds or little seedlings.
Jesus used this example in Matthew 13:20. Stones in our soil will prevent the Living Word of God from taking root in our lives. So when pressure comes, we fall away because the Word has no root.
This week, let’s ask our Heavenly Father to remove any lies, habits, sins or perspectives that would serve as stones in the soil of our soul. Let the word of God take root, grow deep and bring much fruit in our lives.
Success and progress!
