I Get So Emotional, Baby!
I get so emotional baby, and so do you.
We’ve all heard it. “Don’t make an emotional decision.” “Use your head, not your heart.” Well, guess what? You can forget all that well-meaning advice.
Science has discovered that the part of our brain responsible for our decisions is the feeling side. Yep, your emotional brain is wired to call the shots. The rational side does exactly what its name denotes. It rationalizes the directives of the emotional side.
If every decision is born from emotions, how do I make better ones?
I’m glad you asked! The solution is to make your emotions work for you. Have you ever had a “gut feeling” about something or somebody, and the feeling turned out to be true? That feeling was either the absence or presence of peace.
15 Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. Col 3:15 AMP
If your emotional state is peaceful and positive, the absence of peace will work as an alarm system or an umpire for you. Thus, positive, joyful people make better decisions, while angry and negative people do not.
Would you allow a drunk to drive your new luxury car? Neither would you allow unmanaged emotions to drive your life. Lead your life in the right directions by getting a handle on your emotional life.
Success and Progress!
