I got ‘dis-really?
Have you ever been totally and completely ignored? If you’ve ever been in a situation to help someone and find yourself standing by with the exact information, connection or skill they need and being totally overlooked?
I have and it stinks. “I can help you with that.” “I’m right here if you need me.” Frustration grows as you watch them struggle with something you are divinely gifted to do.
I think that’s how Wisdom feels in Proverbs 8. She is crying out at the very places we need her. She’s where the paths meet. She’s at the gates-the place of authority. She’s at doors-the place of new assignments and opportunities. Wisdom is crying out to us just where and when we need her and we mindlessly wander by thinking. “I got dis!” Come on and say it like George Lopez!
I noticed something that just about knocked me out of my chair. Verse 22 “The Lord formed and brought me [Wisdom] forth at the beginning of His way, before His acts of old.” Before God formed the earth, He brought forth Wisdom. Proverbs 8 says He brought forth Wisdom before the earth existed, before the deeps, the fountains, the mountains ,before the hills. “while as yet He had not made the land or the fields or the first of the dust of the earth.”
Think about it! If God brought forth Wisdom before He began His work. Why would we walk past Wisdom on our way to do anything? Wisdom was beside the Almighty as He did his work. Verse 30 says Wisdom was a master and director of the work. Is Wisdom the master and director of our work? Just wondering, because the longer I live the more I realize, I definitely don’t “got dis.”
