I Know Who I’m Not, Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog

 In category

As we finish up this month’s posts on identity, (see the archives for previous posts) we’ll take a look at the ultimate example, our Lord Jesus. I’m most impressed with how Jesus lead himself and how clearly He understood His identity.

Check out John 3:17 where Lord encounters with Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. Right after Jesus makes one of His most famous statements about why He’s here in verse 16, He went on to say why He’s not here.

God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. John 3:17 (MSG)

Have you ever noticed that Jesus never condemned anyone? Not the woman caught in adultery, not the leper, not the man blind from birth, not anyone, because condemnation was not why the Father sent Him. As we embrace our Identity and know who we are, it’s good to be comfortable knowing who we’re not. So we won’t waste time doing what we were never sent to do.

Success and Progress!
