Joy in Believing
Romans 15:13 (AMP) 13 May the God of your hope so fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be overflowing (bubbling over) with hope.
Many people believe that faith is risky business. That believing in something or for something puts them at risk of disappointment and heartache. They have bought into this doctrine of doubt to such great extents, even embracing a false sense of security. “If I never hope for anything, I’ll never be disappointed.” In fact the opposite is true.
The Bible teaches that God fills us with joy and peace in believing, not doubting, not waiting around for proof, in believing. It also teaches that unbelief is sinful, wicked and prevents us from entering the rest or peace of God. [See Hebrews 3:17-19] Hesitating to believe God’s Word or embrace His promises is rooted in fear.
Don’t settle for a miserable, hopeless life of playing it safe and wishing you had the courage to trust God. Instead plant the Word in your heart, and let it paint a beautiful picture, bubbling over with hope!
