Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog: Buy-in $
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every [wild] beast and living creature of the field and every bird of the air and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name.
Question: Does your team work for you or with you? There is a big difference. And that difference is buy-in. Personal buy-in is the acceptance of and commitment to a specific vision, your vision. With it, leading is easy because your team has synergy and wants to win. Without it leading is frustrating and results are small and insignificant.
Buy-in is biblical. After God created the earth he allowed Adam to name the animals and have dominion. Leaders achieve buy-in by allowing your team to have input and take ownership.
You’re probably thinking” But it’s my vision! God gave it to me.” You’re right and yes, you need to protect the integrity of it, but what good is assembling a team unless you harvest the gifts and wisdom God gave them for you? Face it, input is the currency of buy-in. Allow your team to speak into your vision; you’ll get buy-in and a whole lot more.
Success and progress!
