I’ll admit it. When I’m under pressure, self-control is not exactly my favorite spiritual fruit. Love, joy, peace, even patience seem to bloom a lot more readily in some seasons than self-control. If you’re like me, never fear, we’re in good company. The great New Testament apostle, Paul, said

According to the Bible, there is something that helps us keep things under control when tempted. That thing is Prophetic vision. Keeping in mind God’s great plan for our lives and our ability to fulfill it or totally blow it will pull the reigns on our carnal nature and help us to be led by the spirit.
Do you have a vision of God’s plan for your life? Can you see yourself living out every promise? The next time you’re tempted to “loose it”, sharpen your prophetic vision. Let’s keep our focus. We’ll be a lot less likely to run wild.
