Mentoring Moments, the 1 Min Blog: Chew and Do!
This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it…Joshua 1:8 (AMP)
I used to say that reading the Bible everyday is like taking a spiritual vitamin. But I was wrong. Vitamins are supplements designed to fill in the nutritional gaps left by the food we eat. But the Bible isn’t a supplement. It’s our main course.
As believers, we live by every word that The Lord speaks. [Deut 8:3] Like a delicious meal, we should savor those words through meditation. We know that to meditate means to contemplate or plan, consider, design or dream. But did you know a related word for meditation is chew? Shout out to all the moms who told us to chew our food before we swallow it!
This week, instead of swallowing large portions in short spurts take your time and chew God’s Word in small bites. Receive all the nutritional value and life-giving energy it has to offer. When you give the Word that kind of attention it empowers you to be a doer! The more you chew the more you can do.
Success and Progress!
