Mentoring Moments, the 1 Min Blog: Mercy
7 And if you had only known what this saying means, I desire mercy [readiness to help, to spare, to forgive] rather than sacrifice and sacrificial victims, you would not have condemned the guiltless. Matthew 12:7 (AMP)
You’ve no doubt heard the saying, “You’ve made your bed, now you’ve got to lay in it.” I know what it feels like to make a mess of things and think there’s no way out. Sometimes there is nothing we can say or do to fix the things we’ve said or done. That’s why there’s mercy.
Mercy is God’s compassion for us. It was released at the death of Jesus when the veil of the temple was torn from the top down. There’s no place so low that Mercy can’t go. In fact, Mercy was designed for low places.
There are times when a harvest would kill us and favor would confuse us, but God’s mercy can bring us out and give us a fresh start. This isn’t a green light to go out and live a messy life, but if you or someone you know have painted themselves in a corner, don’t be a sacrificial victim. God takes no pleasure in that. Repent; get right, and cry out for mercy. Whew!
