My Favorite Christmas Book! Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
Whether you’re leading at work, home or church, the holidays can be a stressful time. Everyone has their own expectation of what the holidays should be. Many look to you to create their picture, or at least be in their picture. In my efforts to keep up, I’ve lost sleep and gained weight and if one more person told me I looked tired! Well, let’s just say I know where the bodies are buried.
Thankfully, I now turn to my favorite Christmas book, Boundaries, by Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend. Its foundation is in Galatians 6. Verse 2 tells us to carry each other’s burdens (boulders). The holidays are a great time to help someone facing a problem larger than they are. It’s also based on verse 5 that teaches each of us should carry his own little load. That word is translated knapsack.
There are no angels, wise men, or elves in the Boundaries book, but it has taught me when to say yes and when to say no to take control of my life and enjoy the holidays.
