Order Up Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. I Corinthians 6:12
Order is the flavor of the month. Last week we looked at order in the church. This week it’s ordering our lives. One of the best ways to create and maintain order is to develop good habits. It may sound strange but locking yourself into productive habits can create great freedom.
Habits ensure that the things most important to us get done. Habits develop discipline and can reduce stress by aligning our behaviors with our values. They help us become the person we want to be.
There are three elements involved with developing a new habit. The first are triggers or a reminder of what needs to be done,. second is the behavior itself which can take some will power. And lastly, the reward which can be something intrinsic or something you give yourself. The beginning stages of a new habit require increased brain power. Once the habit is established, the brain is less engaged but the rewards and benefits remain the same.
If you’re ready to order up, consider establishing new habits. More on order next week.
Success and Progress!
