Overcoming Disappointment Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
“Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worked patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:3&4
Life is known for throwing us curve balls that no matter how much we think we’ve prepared, it always throw us for a loop. It can be the loss of a job, the ending of a relationship or a bleak medical diagnosis. With these trials of life, it is a natural human response to feel disappointment.
When we look at the hope and expectations we have of life, and they fail to come to pass, disappointment is inevitable. Despite the inevitable, these situations are not permanent. The word promises that we have treasures in earthen vessels. The word declares that He who has begun good work in us will see it through to completion. The word assures that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith.
So when disappointment comes, know that it need not overtake us. Be encouraged as Psalm121 declares… ” I will lift up my eyes unto the hills. From whence comes my help?” My help comes for Jesus Christ.
