Stop, Drop & Roll, Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
For every person will have to bear (be equal to understanding and calmly receive) his own [little] load [of oppressive faults]. Galatians 6:5
This month we continue to spot the things that slow us down when we are marching forward. I got help from the KLD staffers. Stacey, one of the most efficient people I know, said “putting out fires.” If that’s you, it’s time to stop, drop and roll.
I used to frequent a bakery that had this sign on the wall, “Failure to plan on your part does not constitute an emergency on our part.”
Granted, there are times when we should help someone out. But if you’re consistently putting out the same fires for the same people, there needs to be a change on your part.
STOP reacting and start responding. Does this really need your immediate attention or can it wait?
DROP the habit and the image of being always available for everyone. Eventually, that works against you.
ROLL things ahead, by letting others know, when you can get to it and then keep your word.
Keep marching forward.
Success and Progress!
