Surrender Is Not an Option Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
Whenever I am confronted with a challenging situation, or what looks like a no win scenario, this scripture comes to mind.
2 Chronicles 20: 5 – 12….” Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, and said: “Oh Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?…..”
As Israel was once again faced with a united front of enemies rising up to destroy them, King Jehoshaphat and all of God’s people humbled themselves before the Lord, and remembered the victories and triumphs of the Mighty God of Israel.
Asking for nothing, they simply reminded God of His greatness. This was reflection of the inheritance He gave them. Honestly, they confessed they did not have what it takes to stand up to the enemy. Jehoshaphat never asked God for anything, he just said “Our eyes are upon You.”
When life presents a challenge that I am not able to handle, I do as Jehoshaphat and Israel
did, I humble myself before the Lord and remind him of the things he has brought me through. I remember the words God spoke to the King and Israel- “the battle is not yours, it’s the Lords”. With that reminder, I never consider surrender as an option, because with God on my side – victory is inevitable.
