Taking Risks Mentoring Moments, the 1 min blog
We all feel uneasy when faced with what appears to be a risk. We don’t want to fail God, our family, or suffer unnecessary loss. I find comfort in the story of four very unlikely heroes. Read about them in 2 Kings 7. These men were lepers sent to die together in a leper colony. At the same time, their city was under siege and literally being starved to death. Hear their conversation in verse 5.
If we say, ‘Let us enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. So now come, let us go over to the camp of the Syrians. If they spare our lives we shall live, and if they kill us we shall but die.
These men made a move. The Lord took their hopeless situation and turned it into deliverance for their entire nation!
When faced with a risk, consider this:
- What has the Lord said?
- What do you stand to lose?
- What do you stand to gain?
Don’t let fear of loss keep you from gaining the life God has for you!
Success and progress!
