What a Bargain!
[But what of that?] For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us! Romans 8:18 (AMP)
I appreciate a good bargain. Yesterday two of our Bible College students complimented my sweater and I gladly responded, “Thanks, I got it for only $2!” There’s no comparing the quality of what I got with the price I paid.
That’s what the Apostle Paul was referring to in Romans 8:18 when he said, “I don’t think there’s any comparison between the present hard times and the coming good times.” (MSG) When we go through difficulties, no matter how hard, it is absolutely vital that we remember there is a greater glory waiting for us— a glory so great that hard times pale in comparison. Lose sight of this glory, and you are certain to cave in or give up.
But will it be worth it? Good question. The answer is yes. James 1 assures us that patiently enduring our trials will cause us to be perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing. Can you imagine yourself strong in God and strong in faith being used for His glory?
Recently someone received healing from our ministry and said to me, “You’ve paid a great price for that anointing.” I gladly replied, “Actually, it was a bargain.”
